Synopsis
There is a Korean poem entitled “Gobang” by Baek Seok. “Gobang” was formerly named in Korea “the storage room”, where people could store extra food or unnecessary household. The poet thinks back to former times with the objects in the “Gobang”.
6 persons who are the second generation of Korean immigrants in Berlin, tell their story about the object, that let them remember of their past. The object is respectively connected to the Korean culture.
한국에 "고방" 이라는 백석의 시가 있다. '고방'은 옛날에 한국에서 식량이나 쓰지 않는 물건들을 저장하는 공간을 일컫는 말이었다. 시인은 '고방' 안 물건들을 통해 과거를 회상한다.
베를린에 살고 있는 6명의 재독2세들이 물건들을 통해 과거를 기억하고 그에 대한 이야기를 들려준다. 그 각각의 물건들은 한국문화와 연결되어 있다.
Director's Statement
An Identity is formed not by nationality but by culture, what we have shared and remembered. Then we can look at the object not only as functionally but also as a concentrated collectivity of narratives of the memories.
정체성은 국적이 아닌 우리가 공유하고 기억하는 문화를 통해 형성된다. 그러면 우리는 대상을 기능적으로 뿐만 아니라 기억의 내러티브가 집약된 집합체로 바라볼 수 있다.
